These pieces combine my abstract environments with purchased advertising clip art, digitally printed on canvas then pasted to my surfaces . The incongruity of Clip Art images used for cheap advertising circulars clashing with my discordant colors and surfaces is like a Sunday drive on the Interstate...Adventure...Dining...Sex...Road Rage... Fall Foliage !
I'm in the process of installing Neon Letters to the first 3...paper cut-out letters are applied for reference...
The Link Below is an animation of digitally modulated abstract paintings.
( individual images are available as Giclee... see link at top of page )
Smashed Painting ... 65" X 47"
All others...4ft. Square Acrylic on Canvas
Plus New Work incorporating Neon & Light.
The basis of my work is the friendly relationship of Creation and Destruction. I do not attempt to fool the eye with painted photographic realism . . . I , "Let the Paint be Paint."
My surfaces are built of hundreds of layers of brushed, scraped, troweled, poured thick and thin paint.
Layers are built and worked over forming a complex and unique subconscious spatial identity and color achieved by a cycle of creating and destroying... accidentally on purpose.
Below are large acrylics on wood panel. The linear elements superimposed over the paintings are Mock-Ups to illustrate Neon Lighting.
